History
In 2010, our founder, Naren Shaam, embarked on an extensive backpacking trip across Europe.
Shaam knew where he wanted to go, but planning the best route, finding an affordable bus ticket or the right train to get him there left him frustrated and a little light in the pocket.
Seeing a need for a multi-mode travel site, Shaam quit his job in finance in NYC, packed up his life and moved to Berlin, with its burgeoning tech and startup scene.
Thus, GoEuro was born in 2013.
In early 2019, GoEuro became Omio. That’s Oh-ME-oh.
We wanted to create a brand that would better connect with our users. Why Omio? It's strong, it's fresh, it's easily pronounceable. The “o’s” are a nod to our GoEuro roots and represent two dots on a map—it’s connections that drive us after all. We also chose a unique colour palette that is comforting and calming and added bespoke illustrations to evoke the beauty of travel.
Although we’ve adopted these changes, we still remain committed to GoEuro’s mission of being the best platform for all your train, bus and flight booking needs.
Today, Omio operates in 15 countries (and counting)! Our 27 million monthly users from more than 120 countries connect with more than 800 travel partners to get to 100,000+ destinations across Europe.

Naren Shaam
CEO and founder of Omio
Born in Bangalore, India, Naren has an MBA from Harvard University and worked in the auto industry and financial services in New York. He decided to move to Berlin in 2012 and found Omio after a backpacking trip around Europe where he became aware of the need to improve the transport booking system on the continent.
Edgar Berger

A longtime tech investor, Edgar was previously Chairman and CEO at Sony Music International, where he grew the business in 45 countries.

COO
Malte has been the COO of Omio since 2013, responsible for finance and data. Previously, he was managing director at Moviepilot.

Filippo has worked in marketing for nearly two decades. He was formerly Director of Marketing Strategy and Planning for EMEA at Ebay.

In 2017, more than 500 customers contacted us to learn how to travel with their beloved pets.

Traveling with us is fast and easy with a mobile ticket.
We offer the possibility to go paperless in 20 countries in Europe, on hundreds of routes. FYI: nearly all our tickets sold in Italy are mobile!
On an average day, we sell enough tickets to fill more than 300 buses and about 30 trains.
That’s a lot of seats!
Our customers come from all over the world and have different travel preferences.
Spaniards stick to their own country—Madrid to Barcelona is their preferred route—while Americans flock to Paris, Amsterdam and Rome. Our Chinese customers have a soft spot for Italy, opting to travel from Rome to Florence (and back)!
We’ll even get you from the airport to the city center, no problem!
After booking your flight, add on an airport transfer. It beats waiting for a taxi!
